A new holiday week is approaching, and before the celebrations, gatherings, schedules, and emotions begin to swirl, this is the perfect time to pause and prepare your heart.
Not through busy planning.
Not through stress.
But through grounding yourself emotionally and spiritually before the pace of life increases.
Many people experience anxiety, depression, or grief more intensely during the holidays — not because the holidays cause it, but because the season adds extra layers. More expectations. More memories. More pressure. More emotional weight.
So instead of waiting until you feel overwhelmed, this is the moment to create space for peace on the front end.
1. Create a Calm Starting Point
Before the noise of the week begins, take time today to breathe and reflect. Just 5–10 quiet minutes can help your body and mind reset.
Ask God to settle your spirit, clear your thoughts, and give you a steady foundation for the week ahead.
2. Choose What Truly Matters — and Release What Doesn’t
This is a good time to decide:
• What is truly important to me this week?
• What can I say “no” to without guilt?
• What drains me emotionally that I need to limit?
• What brings comfort that I should lean into?
You are not required to carry every tradition, expectation, or responsibility. It’s okay to simplify.
3. Prepare for Emotional Triggers Before They Come
Whether it’s grief from missing someone, anxiety about gatherings, or the sadness that sometimes appears during holidays — acknowledging it ahead of time softens the impact.
You don’t have to be caught off guard.
God walks with you before it happens, not just during it.
4. Build in Rest Early
Instead of waiting until you’re exhausted, schedule rest now:
• a quiet evening to yourself
• a slow morning
• time outside
• a small moment of worship or prayer
• journaling
• turning off your phone for a little while
Rest isn’t weakness.
Rest is preparation.
5. Invite God Into the Week Ahead
You don’t have to manage this week alone. You don’t have to hold everything together. You don’t have to be perfect.
Ask God:
“Show me where to go gently.
Remind me where to let go.
Guide me toward peace instead of pressure.”
A Peaceful Start Makes a Peaceful Week
When you begin with intention and emotional grounding, the entire week shifts.
Your reactions soften.
Your anxiety quiets.
Your heart steadies.
And you create the space needed to walk into the holidays with clarity, not chaos.
This is your moment to prepare — not by doing more, but by grounding yourself in peace, presence, and God’s strength.
