Preparing Your Heart for the Holidays

The holidays are just a few days away. For some, this season is full of joy, laughter, and connection. For others, it can be a time of stress, sadness, or quiet grief. And that’s okay — your emotions are valid, and your heart deserves care.


Before the holiday whirlwind begins, take this time to prepare your mind, body, and spirit.


1. Reflect on What Truly Matters


Not every task, tradition, or expectation has to be done. Ask yourself:


• What brings me joy?

• What feels meaningful to me this year?

• What can I simplify or let go of?


2. Protect Your Energy


Set boundaries now:

• Limit social obligations that feel draining

• Take small breaks for quiet, prayer, or reflection

• Communicate honestly with loved ones about your needs


3. Embrace Gentle Self-Care


Even a few minutes of rest, journaling, or meditation each day can help you face the season with calm. Remember: self-care is not selfish — it is preparation.


4. Invite God Into the Season


Before the rush begins, invite God into your holiday planning, your emotions, and your heart. Ask Him for peace, patience, and guidance.

“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

A Prayer for the Coming Days


“Lord, help me enter this holiday season with peace in my heart. Calm my anxious thoughts, strengthen my weary spirit, and guide my steps so that I can move gently through these days. Remind me to pause, breathe, and trust that You are with me every moment.”


Move Into the Holidays with Intention
